IMG-20180713-WA0005General Body Meeting was conducted on 14-06-2018. The agenda of the meeting was about  the upcoming academic years 2018-19. A brief PPT was presented by the management to the faculties regarding upgrading of teaching skills. New faculties were been introduced from each blocks.

DSC_0004Fresher’s Day was celebrated on 02/07/2018. Management, Principal, Teaching and Non-Teaching faculties welcomed fresher’s of B.com, B.A and B.B.A with great enthusiasm. Along with the students, parents were also been invited as a supporting hand in students life for the inauguration day. Parents were glad to enter the campus along with their dear ones and joined faculties to wish all the best for the beginners. The program started with lighting of the lamp by The Principal, staff, parents and students. Principal welcomed the parents and students with warm welcome and motivated words. The program successfully concluded with an explanation by the Principal Dr. Sr. Prema about the terms and conditions.

1DSC_0030Orientation day was conducted on 03/07/2018. Orientation session was taken over by Mrs. Nethravathi. K, (HOD of Management Department) to B.Com and B.B.A first year students. Mrs. Rekha. MN, (HOD of Arts) conducted the orientation session to B.A first year students. The session helped the fresher’s to accumulate knowledge of Degree semester scheme, internal test and detailed syllabus of Bengaluru Central University. Vice Principal Mrs. Mallika Shetty accompanied in both the session and explained the students in detail regarding their requirement of efforts to complete the course successfully.

DSC_000The department of commerce and management organized Guest lecturing on career opportunities in Account, finance and taxation for the B.com and B.B.A students. The Seminar was taken over by Mr. Amar. V.  Meharwade, (B.com, FCA, DISA, AVM & Co,Chartered accountants)on 07/07/2018. The seminar was greatly useful to the students as it created awareness among the students about the future opportunities in commerce education. Once the students finish their graduation there will be huge doubts like next what? So this wonderful session explained our students regarding the future opportunities.

2 days Self Defense workshop was conducted for our students from  Swakshatra Trust and Ms. Sharanya Suresh (Girls Scouts Troop, California, USA) on 17/07/2018 and 18/07/2018. The session was greatly helpful for our 136 students who attended the workshop. This made our students to understand the importance of women’s self defense.

DSC_0022Along with the academics there is greater requirement of different committees for the academic success. So as usual in the present academic year various cells was inaugurated on 10/07/2018 to educate the students and equip them with skills and knowledge. Cells like Women empowerment, placement, entrepreneurship development, anti-harassment, anti-ragging, cultural, co-curriculum and literary club, extension and enrichment activities grievances redress cell etc were inaugurated. The objective of the cells is to create a solid platform to the students within and outside the campus.

20180716_115500The management conducted student’s union elections on 16/07/2018 to educate the students about social, organizational activities, representation, academic support, formalities, roles and responsibilities. Ms. Mary Yash of final year B.com and Ms. Alice Preethi. X were been elected as The President and Vice-President, few other students were also been elected as different union ministers.  All the elected ministers promised to adhere to roles and responsibilities by taking oath in the oath taking ceremony.

IMG-20180720-WA0002 We invited Mrs. Noor Sumaiya, (Assistant Education Officer, ICSI Bangalore Chapter, KSSIDC Industrial Area, Rajajinagar) on 20/07/2018, to educate our students about the Career as a Company Secretary and its future prospective. Madam explained in detail the greater importance of the Secretarial field and its future of students once they get their secretarial degree. The complete course details were known to students and students showed great concern to think about the course in future possibilities.

20180721_12041321/07/2018 – Seminar on happiness conducted by Fr.                  . The session was quite interactive and excellent. The session made the students to know the value of happiness. Fr. helped the students to practice happiness in each and every moment of the life. Also made them understand the value of happiness in one’s life and requested the students to spread the happiness.

Yoga Day was conducted for our NSS students on 21-07-2018. Mrs. Rekha .M N of St. Teresa’s Degree College took over the session.  Asanas like Svastikasana, Gomukhasan, Padmasana, Virasana, Bhadra asana were been taught for the students.

Our students visited Mysore Sandal soap factory (Yeshwanthpur Industrial Suburb, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru – 560086) in two batches on 21-07-2018 and 20-8-2018. The industry visit enhanced the knowledge of our students in production process of soap, technical process of machines and more information about processing, manufacturing and marketing of soaps.

Online Interview workshop was conducted on 25-07-2018. All the students of Final year B.Com attended this workshop and they were able to know how online interviews take place via mock chat, aptitude, etc,. It was a very useful class for the outgoing batch.

Oath Taking Ceremony was conducted on 26-07-2018. Mr. Gokulnath P, (St. Teresa’s Composite PU college) was the chief guest. Ms. Mary Yash of final year B.com and Ms. Alice Preethi. X were been elected as The President and Vice-President for the academic year 2018-19, few other students were also been elected as different union ministers.  All the elected ministers promised to adhere to their roles and responsibilities by taking oath in front of all the students and faculties.

Kannada Sanga was organized and inaugurated by our Kannada Department faculties and students on 28-07-2018 at Seminar Hall. Cultural Programmes were organized by our Kannada sanga members.

Felicitation ceremony 2017-18 was organized on 31/07/2017 and all the final year toppers of 2015 batch were felicitated by The Vice Chancellor of Bengaluru Central University, Prof. Dr. S. Japhet. It was a auspicious day in the life of the passed out batch students and prestigious day in the history of college. Prof. Dr. S. Japhet appreciated each and every faculty for their contribution with 100% pass percentage. 

State level Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Pre-Ph.D Preparation” was conducted on 03/08/2018 to create awareness among the teaching faculties of different colleges. The program was a great success, almost 280 participants attended the FDP. This FDP educated and helped the faculties to enhance the knowledge about preparation before entering into Ph.D. The session removed all the negative myths the faculties had about Ph.D to make them a successful researcher. Dr. M. Ramachandra Gowda, Registrar of Bengaluru Central University was the key note speaker, Dr. Manasa Nagabhushan, Director, Centre for Education and Social Studies engaged the first session along with Mrs. Kavyashree. KM (Ass. Prof. Community Institute of Management Studies). The Technical Session II  was taken over by Dr. D. Raja Jebasingh, Research guide, Associate Professor, St. Joseph’s college of commerce (Autonomous) followed by valedictory program along with certificate distribution to participants.

Independence Day was celebrated on 15-08-18. The Guest of Honor was actress Mrs. Tara (Kannada actress).

All the blocks of St. Teresa’s Institution came to together to present their performance with different themes. Our Degree collage students performed Dance with remix of Kerala, Tribal and Indian theme were it showed all people in India celebrate Independence Day. The chief guest was very impressed by the performance of Degree College and gave a standing ovation. 

Meditation class was conducted on 23-08-2018 for our students to improve their concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, attention in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth.

On account of Independence day, drawing competition was organised in the premises on 13/08/2018. Student took active participation in the competition by showing the patronage towards the nation. Prizes were decided considering the colour combination, theme and presentation of the students. Ms. Bhagyalakshmi of 2nd year B.Com and Ms. Afreen of 1st year B.Com won 1st and 2nd prize respectively.

Cultural activities was conducted on 31-08-2018. Rangoli, Hair style, Flower decoration, Nail art, best out of waste, Mehendi competitions were been organized. Students participated in all the activities with great zeal and the cultural day was a successful one. Lecturers of different blocks of the institution were the judges.

Teacher’s Day celebration was conducted on 05/09/2018 – Always teacher’s day will be celebrated with great passion in the campus. This year teacher’s day celebrated by the management also gifted to all staff to their enrichment and creating motivation among them. After that students also celebrated by organizing many events for the staff. Musical chair, key hunting, fashion show etc. played and enjoyed by the students. At the end of the program students gifted and honored all the staff.

Business Collage was conducted on 06-09-18 – Business collage competition and product launch, the competition organized to enhance the creativity among the students. Students actively participated in the events and won the prizes. This event organized for the I and II year degree students.

Seminar on Placement was conducted on 14-09-18 by Sherly george, Purple finch Pvt.ltd – The awareness about placement is very important for the final year students. We invited resource person to address our students in this regard. The session was extremely enthusiastic which enlightened our students about interview skills, aptitude testing, viva, questionnaire, communication skills etc.

On 01-09-2018 our Final Year B.Com students were been taken to Industrial Visit to Coco cola and Lazza Ice cream factory.

At Lazza Ice cream factory the guide explained students about how candy, cup, family pack kind of ice creams are produced by showing them a production unit. They were also taken to cold storage where temperature was 24°c.

At Coco-Cola factory students were explained about how coke products are produced. Students were taken around the factory and each unit was showed and explained.

All the 1st and 2nd B.A, B.Com and B.B.A students had been to Janapada Loka (Located at: Ramanagar District, Doddamannugudde Forest, Karnataka) a folk museum on 01-09-2018.

 Janapada Loka had an exclusive display of the village folk arts of Karnataka and exhibited a varied folk art and culture of Karnataka. Janapada Loka is divided into separate wings — Folk arts museum, Loka Mahal, Chitra Kuteera, Doddamane, Shilamala, Arghyamala etc. The museum had a collection of 5,000 folk artefacts.

By visiting Janapada loka we got to know about our ancient art and culture. It was a very meaningful trip for the students and faculties.

Seminar on Financial Awareness and Usage of Digital Media in Banking was conducted on 25-09-18 by Mr. Suresh Shetty the technology usage is most important by the students in the present competent era. We invited a resource person who was the retired manager of ICICI. The session was quite interactive our students raised many questions to the speaker. The speaker at the end appreciated the students for wonderful energy and enthusiasm.

NSS volunteers Ms. Anthony smitha, Ms. Jasmine supriya and Ms. Sushma had been to Janapada Folk Dance and Singing Training at Karnataka Janapada Sahithya Academy form 26th to 31-10-18.

Our NSS volunteers had been to chamrajpet school on 02/10/2018 to celebrate Gandhi Jayanthi and with the theme swach barath the volunteers cleaned the school camp.

Ms. Maria Harshitha of 2nd year B.Com was selected for the State Level NSS Republic Day March Past pride and been to Dharward University on 6th and 7 of October 2018.

Competitive Exams and career awareness programme was conducted on 09-10-18 – The awareness of the career and future choice of career is very prominent in the competitive job market. We invited competitive academy mentor to address the students. The session concentrated on the different exams that students can take after their degree and how to attend and face the exams.

Ms. Johnsina. R of 3rd year B.Com and Ms. Alice Preethi. X of 2nd year B.A had been to NSS – State Level Yuva Jenosthava (Youth festival) 2018 camp at Dharward from 12-10-2018 to 17-10-2018.

50 of our NSS students were been to self defense trainging session at Bengaluru central university. Ms. Shruthi (Kannada Actress) and the Vice chancellor of Bangalore university Mr. Venugopal addressed the gathering.

NSS team and Kannada Department together has organized Kannada Rajyostava on 02-11-2018. Dr. Sister Prema, the principal and HOD of Kannada and Mr. Manju lecturer of kannada address the gathering. Cultural progammes were also been performed.

All the blocks of St. Teresa’s Educational Institution together celebrated Parents Day on 17-11-2018.

Cooking without fire fest was conducted on 19-01-2019. All our students participated in the competition with great interest and enthusiasm. The judges were also given the opportunity to show their creativity in cooking without fire.

Guest lecturing on Income tax was taken over by Mr. Amar. V. Meharwade, (B.com, FCA, DISA, AVM & Co,Chartered accountants)  on 25-01-2019 for the final year B.Com students.

Our NSS students had been to NSS bhavan on 26-01-2019 for 69th Republic Day celebration. The person seen in the photograph is The Vice Chancellor of Banglore university Mr. Venugopal.

We the management and staff decided to advertise our Degree college to strength the courses from academic year 2019-20. Hence, we organized “What Next?” a guest lecture for our St. Teresa’s Composite PU college students and their parents to guide them towards the importance of Higher Education and facing challenges of board examinations, which courses to choose after 2nd PUC and also promoted our own degree college on 29-01-2019.

Ms. Johnsina. R of 3rd year B.Com had been to NSS camp in Udupi from 29 Jan 2019 to 30 Jan 2019.

Ms. Sangeetha  of 2nd year B.A had been to NSS  -NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP at Dr.G. Shankar Govt.1st Grade College for Women (Mangalore University) from 29 Jan 2019 to 04 Feb 2019.

St. Joseph’s College of Commerce has organized National Service Scheme Inter collage fest at – “NSS – AURA 3.0,” on 30/01/2019.

30 of our students actively participated in each activity (Act & React, Clip & Paste, Sounds worth, Painting, Pictory, Fall to the Beat, Treasure Hunt, Golden League, Ice breakers and in Village Fashion) and won 2nd prize in Village fashion show and Ms. Mary Yash & Ms. Carmel Mary were the winners of Pictory, treasure hunt Ms. Harshitha, Ms. Padmavathi T and Ms. Gayathri.

St. Joseph’s College of Commerce has organized Inter collage Hindi Parishath Fest “Nakshatra – 2K19” on 01/02/2019.  Our students actively participated in Treasure Hunt, Quiz, Folk Dance and Fashion Show and won 2nd prizes in Folk Dance and 2nd prize in Fashion Show.

Vasavi Jnana Peetha First Grade College, Vijaya Nagar organized “Job Fair” on 02/02/2019. 21 of our final year students took part in the job fair and Ms. Shanthi Roopa, Ms. Elizabeth and Ms. Rashmi  of final year B.Com received offer letters from “Concentrix”.

St. Ann’s college has organized Inter-college Throwball Match on 15-2-19 and our throwball players received best players award.

Seminar on “Mobile usage” was conducted on by Mr. Suresh (Big Brother).

NSS unit of Sheshadirpuram first grade college, yelahanka has organized Inter collegiate workshop on “Cancer Awareness” on 23-02-2019.

Ms. Sindhuja, Ms. Shalini, Ms. Saranya, Ms. Smitha. KM and Ms. Pallavi has attended the workshop from our college. 

Our Psychology students had been to Psychology exhibition on 18-02-2019 at Maharani Ammani College – and the person seen in the photograph is Prof. Mercy John, HOD of psychology.

Tribute to Pulwama attack Indian soldiers: On 18-02-2019 we the management, staff and students in remembrance of our great soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Pulwama attack lighted up the candle and maintained 10mins of silence to show our condolence. The Principal of our college said a short prayer for the peace of our nation.

“TALENTINA 2K19” a Commerce & Management Inter-Collegiate fest was organized on 25-02-2019. The competitions conducted were: Best entrepreneurship, Business quiz, product launch, sounds worth, treasure hunt, dance and fashion show.

The Event of ‘Business Quiz’ was conducted in St. Teresa’s Degree College for Women on 25/02/2019 at 10:30 am. There were 9 teams, who participated with great interest and zeal. Students from ‘St. Teresa’s Degree College for Women’, ‘CB Bhandari Jain College’, ‘BMS College’, ‘MLA College’ and ‘Sheshadripuram College’ had participated in this event.

The Event of ‘New Product Launch’ was conducted in St. Teresa’s Degree College for Women on 25/02/2019 at 11:00 am. Students from ‘St. Teresa’s Degree College for Women’ and ‘Mariyappa College’ had participated in this event. There were 3 teams, who participated in a great zeal with lot of creativity.

Our Journalism students had been to “Majaa Talkies” on 03/03/2019 . 

Our Psychology students were taken to Nimhans hospital Brain Exhibition on 28-02-2019 in the guide ship of Psychology lecturer Mr. Prabhu Harle. T P.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR: St. Teresa’s degree college for women as an activity of NSS unit had organised a seminar on “Menstrual Hygiene” in association with JCI. The purpose of the seminar is to create awareness about health & hygiene to be maintained by women during their menstrual cycle.

Seminar on Anti Sexual Harassment were conducted on 02/03/2019:

Inter College Competition BUC – Janapada Jhenkara 4,5,6,Feb 2019. BCU – Kamasale Performance at “Janapada Jhenkara 2019”organized by Rotary Bengaluru Basavanagudi, Rotary International District 3190.

Ms. Preetha G of Final year B.Com had been to Sanskrit University – NSS state level seminar.

Human rights cell Inauguration 09-03-2019

Our students organized “Spectrum week” that is from 11th to 16th March 2019. It was decided to wear different attires each day. On 16th at the end of Spectrum week the students and the staff celebrated women’s day.

Retro Day, Salwar Day, Jeans-Western Day, Twins Day, Lehenga Day, Saree Day– Women’s Day Celebration. 

Women’s Day was celebrated on 16-03-2019. The entire programme and the arrangements were organized by the students. Mrs. Johnny of PU Bock and Mrs. Lakshmi from High school were felicitated for their 50+ years of service in housekeeping.

Kannada Nataka 12-3-19.

Camp about Eye Awareness and Glaucoma was conducted on 15-03-2019 by Minto eye hospital for all our faculties. The doctors give an awareness about Glaucoma, it’s symptoms and prevention. All our faculties under gone the eye checkup.

All our B.A students had been to Srirangapatna on 14-03-2019 (A Study Tour).  

Seminar on Women Empowerment 16-3-2019

On 19-03-2019 Campus Drive was conducted at Seshadripuram college. Nine of our final year B.Com students attended the interview for “Capgemini” company and three of them were selected for final round of interview.  

Three students who were selected in the Campus Drive organized at Seshadripuram college on 19-3-2019 are attending the final round at “Capgemini”. Out of 3, 2 of them.

World water day – 22-3-19.

Ms. Shaziya Tarannum & Ms. Tamiya Haseen of V. H. D Central Institute of Home Science (Dept. of Human Development project course) 2nd Semester M.Sc conducted Personality Development Programme on 23-03-2019. It was a very interactive and highly informative session for our students which helped them in their academic as well as personal life.

Seminar on Anti ragging was conducted 26-03-2019.

Voting awareness programme 3-4-19 for Loka Sabha election 2019.

On 04/04/2019 at Senate Hall, Central College Campus Bengaluru Central University (Making of management professionals) In association with Department of Commerce and Karnataka Accounting Association had organized  PYP (Present your Perspective) on “Millennial as Master of Management”. Calling out final year graduation students of BCU affiliated colleges to present their Presentations.  Our final B.Com students actively took part in this event in 3 teams and Ms. Shabeen Banu and Ms. Syeeda Bushra were awarded for their presentation.

On 09/04/2019 The District Legal Services Authority, Bengaluru Rural District In association with St. Teresa’s Degree College For Women, Chamrajpet, Bangalore has organized “Legal awareness programme” for all our students. Sri. Sunil. S. Hosamani – Senior Civil Judge & Member secretary, DLSA Bengaluru Rural District and Smt. Munirathnamma. D – Advocate and Para legal volunteer address the gathering.

IQAC Cell was Inaugurated on 15-04-2019..

Sports Day: On 16/04/2019 sports day was conducted and the winners of each sports were decided on the same day.

Sports like Chess, Cricket, Discus throw, Kho-Kho, Kabadi, Running race, Shot put, Throw Ball and volley ball matches were been conducted.

 

Throwball matches was conducted on 08-04-2019 and the semi final was also done on the same day. Finals was done on 16/04/2019.

Our students actively participated in Inter college fashion show competition organized at Mariyappa First Grade College on 13-04-2019 and won 2nd Prize.

On 18-04-2019, 20 of our NSS volunteers had been assigned for election duty as volunteers during the Loksabha election 2019 . These students were issued a certificate of Appreciation from Election Commission of India (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) for their service.
