It is a sin to despise one’s neighbor, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy. Whoever oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God. Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done. (Proverbs 14:31)
For the past over 104 years, St. Teresa’s Educational Institutions, Chamarajet, Bangalore, run by the SMMI Sisters, have been rendering yeoman service in the field of women education and empowerment, particularly of those belonging to the poor, marginalized and the neglected sections of society.
Stepping on the portals of faith and hope, the Congregation of SMMI ignited the light of knowledge with the blessings of our Heavenly patron, St. Teresa and our Foundress, Servant of God.
With the noble intention of providing higher education to the poor and the marginalized women from all strata of society, the St. Teresa’s Degree College for Women was established in 2014. I am proud to say that within a short duration this College has carved a niche for itself with 100% results in the University Exams. With hundreds of girls pursuing their higher education, this college continues to stand on the pedestal of honesty, liberty, equality, justice, integrity, love and service. This temple of learning aims at moulding young women as academically excellent, socially responsible and spiritually enlightened citizens to cope with global challenges. Highest values of morality, respect and service to the poor and marginalized are inculcated in the students to make them better global citizens. Beckoning new challenges and opportunities, we march forward to enhance the quality of this Institution of Excellence.
